Legends on Grey street and Venue on Market street are what your looking for. Also some good bars around the pink triangle (Gay area).

I don't know much about the alternative or goth scene by any means, but here are a few idea's for you.

Stage Door

Stowell Street,

Admission: £4 Mondays 10pm - 2am

Venue: Nightclub

Music: Rock / Metal / Punk

Facilities: Small but do the job!

Review: Can be really good when busy but even when quiet quite a friendly little place!

Other: Wahey another D.J who actually listens to requests! Good deals on booze!

Cuba Cuba

Market Street, Newcastle

Admission: £5 - £7 Friday & Saturday 10pm - 2am

Venue: Nightclub

Music: Retro / Rock / Metal / Industrial / Goth / Punk / Alternative

Facilities: To be honest small & seedy!

Review: Sometimes good sometimes boll*cks depends on age of clientele!

Other: Ex mayfair DJ Little Jeff playing the tunes u decide if thats a good

Legends @ Legends

Grey Street, Newcastle

Admission: £1 Friday, Saturday and Monday 21:00 - 02:00

Venue: Nightclub

Music: AOR / Retro / Rock / Metal / Industrial / Goth / Punk / Alternative

Facilities: Three big bar areas and a big dance floor and stage. Toilets are easy to get to and not much of a queue. There is also a big cloakroom and a hotdog stand at the back of the dance floor.

Review: Everyone in there is your friend, everyone just goes to have a good time and there is no trouble what so ever, and if for some reason there is like some smelly charvas get in, then the bouncers kick the **** out of them before they say "WELL AYE"

Other: Little Jeff has moved there and the music selection is great. He plays best part of the many requests that he gets and the female bar staff are definatly worth a look at.

Rock @ The Arena @ Telewest Arena

, Newcastle

Admission: £3/£1 with rock pass Fridays 21:30 - 02:00

Venue: Nightclub

Music: Rock / Metal / Industrial / Goth / Punk / Alternative

Facilities: Big dance floor, good drinks promo's, bouncy castle every so often! plus membership for £5 which gives u free t-shirt and special offers.

Review: great, friendly atmosphere. a proper rock night with 2 female dj's! garunteed to hear the best n get most of requests played

Other: its time newcastle gave rock nites the treatment they deserve, get down there and rock ur hearts out! check the website out regulary as some dates change and gives updates on promo's and special nites!

Trillians

Princess Square (behind Northumberland St), Newcastle

Admission: Varies if bands are on Daily 11:30am - 11pm Sun-Wed, 2am Thu-Sat

Venue: Pub / Late Bar

Music: Rock / Metal / Industrial / Goth / Punk

Drinks: Average

Facilities: Reasonable priced bar with daft vodka cocktails and good food

Review: The atmosphere in Trillians is electric and being one of the few Rock/Metal Bars in Newcastle everyone wants to be there. It's Like a big Happy Family. Everyone is friendly and they are all there for one purpose! Rock!

Other: Where as Trillians isn't the biggest bar in the world, it more than makes up for it in other department's.

Trillians plays host to many good bands and has an amazing sound system. And the booze isn't too expensive either.

Hope this is of some help to you.
